MATTIE GOINCOASTAL vied with PLAYA LUNA for the early lead, opened a clear lead nearing the three-eighths pole and maintained a safe advantage. PLAYA LUNA vied with MATTIE GOINGCOASTAL for the early lead, was unable to stay with that one but proved to be clearly second best. DRAGONELLA saved ground while being unhurried and was gaining slightly late. MELBA'S GOLD was allowed to settle, moved forward nearing the quarter pole racing three-wide and then tired during the drive.
