Chart notes
VAST HORIZONS pressed the pace from the two path through the first half-mile, came under coaxing past the three-furlong pole to challenge TIVERTON (GB), was turned back entering the stretch, then came again in the final furlong and wore down that foe in the closing strides. TIVERTON (GB) took command from the outset, set the pace under mild pressure through the first half-mile, responded when set down near the quarter pole and opened clear turning for home, but was worn down by VAST HORIZONS in the final strides. MAJOR SPARKS saved ground just behind the pace, made good headway along the rail through the stretch, was forced to alter course outside in the final sixteenth and finished willingly for third. READY TO ROLL stalked the pace three wide to the far turn, then flattened out through the stretch. SANT' ANTIMO settled between horses in the second flight and failed to make any late headway. P K WOOD raced three wide just off the pace, came under pressure past the three-furlong pole and failed to respond. AUTHORITARIAN reared when the gates opened and struck the side of the gate, lost all chance at the start, was galloped around well behind the field and walked off after the finish. THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE START. AFTER A REVIEW IT WAS DETERMINED THAT #5 AUTHORITARIAN CAUSED HIS OWN PROBLEMS AND THEREFORE NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.
