ALEXANDER K reserved off the pace down the backstretch, closed the gap while saving ground along the fence under early encouragement, tipped out in upper stretch splitting rivals to engage the leader, drifted in a bit in deep stretch while vying with the runner-up and prevailed in the final yards. ALABAMA SLEEPER set the pace on a clear early lead, responded as the pack closed in on the bend to kick away in upper stretch, was collared by the winner nearing the sixteenth pole, battled with that one coming together in the final fifty yards without impact and was outkicked in a good effort. STARK COUNTY chased the pacesetter into the turn, narrowed the gap on the bend and ran-on willingly in the lane unable to gain further. VIOLIN FINGERS tracked the leaders and failed to mount a closing rally. FAAZ broke outward bumping rival, was taken in hand to race at the rear while hard held and never posed a threat appearing to be difficult for the rider to manage. THE RIDER OF THE RUNNER-UP CLAIMED FOUL FOR INTERFERENCE IN DEEP STRETCH BY THE WINNER, UPON REVIEW THE STEWARDS MADE NO CHANGE.
