Chart notes
STARSHIP EMPIRE was hard held off heels through the first turn onto the backstretch, settled off heels along the fence to the far turn, rallied angling four wide at the top of the lane and kicked clear late. VAN reserved off the pace racing near the rear of the compact field, rallied five wide in upper stretch with a good gain to be second best. ADIOS BUCCANEER pressed the pace to midway on the far turn, assumed command at the top of the lane and was outkicked by the top pair coming home. SPETTRO set the pace for three-quarters under steady pressure and weakened in upper stretch to drop from contention. GLOBES was not a factor.
