Chart notes
SLEWSSONGOFTHENILE tracked the early pace inside, threaded between DECKHAND and the fence on the turn and took the lead near the five sixteenths, went to a drive in upper stretch, and kept finding enough to hold off the persistent MOONLIGHT MAX just to his outside. MOONLIGHT MAX stalked outside of DECKHAND early, attended three wide on the turn after SLEWSSONGOFTHENILE joined to their inside, continued to hound the pace as SLEWSSONGOFTHENILE took over the front marker, was driven in upper stretch, chased on with good interest to the finish but proved second best. MAXIMUS AMAR settled at the rear, was pushed along three wide into the turn and made a mild bid, proved no match for the leading pair but chased on to prove clearly best of the rest. DOUBLE DEALS chased between horses on the backstretch, gained the inside when SLEWSSONGOFTHENILE made his rally, was pushed along inside of COZZINO and MAXIMUS AMAR on the turn while saving ground, and had no rally in the lane. COZZINO was off sharply but settled back to chase the leaders, raced three wide in the rear flight on the turn, and offered no bid. DECKHAND was sent to the lead, set the pace while pressured by MOONLIGHT MAX to his outside, was joined to the inside by SLEWSSONGOFTHENILE into the turn, got headed by that foe approaching the five sixteenths and emptied out. HAND refused to break and walked off. THE STEWARDS PERFORMED AN INQUIRY INTO THE START OF HAND. UPON REVIEW, STEWARDS DETERMINED HAND CAUSED HIS OWN PROBLEMS AND DECLARED HIM A STARTER.
