Chart notes
WALKERS BEACH broke best but ceded the lead to COACH MICHAEL while remaining close down the backstretch, moved up under confident handling to challenge approaching the three-furlong pole, took command at the head of the stretch and drew clear through the final furlong under a strong hand ride. SIPPNSUMMERSPIRITS was squeezed at the start but recovered well, moved out to the three path for running room down the backstretch, settled behind the two leaders and responded to strong handling and urging through the stretch, but could not get to the winner. COACH MICHAEL veered in while being hustled to the lead, set the pace with WALKERS BEACH in close pursuit, was challenged by that rival approaching the three-furlong pole, yielded the lead entering the stretch and weakened late to lose second. KATISCHUO was brushed after the start, settled in midpack, came under pressure after a quarter mile and lacked a finishing kick. KING OF SALSA broke last, moved up under a ride approaching the turn, continued three to four wide through that turn, then lost ground through the stretch. COLONIAL KNIGHT was outpaced, dropped to the rail before the turn and was never a factor.
