Chart notes
CLOSE CALL dueled outside FAIR HOPE for the lead through the early stages, gained a slight advantage on the turn, edged clear entering the stretch and drew away through the late stages. TARTARIAN got crowded and bounced around after the start, settled with the trailing quartet well off the early leaders, started a sustained advance before the three-furlong pole, continued to make steady progress through the turn and stretch and finished willingly to gain the place. FAIR HOPE dueled inside CLOSE CALL through the early stages, stayed with that rival through the turn, was unable to match strides when the winner began to draw clear but held on for the minor award. JOKER WENT WILD settled with the trailing quartet through the early stages, came under some encouragement on the turn and kept to task through the stretch without making significant headway. BIG COUNTRY BOY raced three to four wide with the trailing group, showed brief interest through the turn but was unable to sustain the effort through the stretch. FUEL raced alone between the dueling leaders and the trailing quartet through the early stages, remained within range through the turn, then weakened through the stretch. IT'S A RAINY DAY settled with the trailing quartet early, dropped to the rear on the turn and failed to rally.
