Chart notes
WAGNER settled into a good rhythm having the rail isolated in midfield, moved out to the four-path straightening out for home, did not switch leads through the lane but determinedly kept coming on in the final furlong and surged outside in the final seventy yards wearing down a softened-up leader clearing away for the win when crossing the finish line. READY TO COLLECT stumbled on the start, recovered quickly to hound the pacesetter outside in the early going, sat off the leader flanking two wide outside through the bend, got a head in front in the two path at the top of the stretch, dueled gamely going head to head still at the eighth pole, finally got the better of the early speed foe inside by the sixteenth pole edging away but could not find more late to fend off the winners late surge outside in the final seventy yards. URBAN LEGEND had a very nice set up relaxed all alone on the fence watching the contesting down the backside as well as along the oval, shifted out four wide looming boldly turning for home, idled by the furlong marker unable to threaten the embattled lead twosome but did dig in late to stave off rivals saving for the show money at the wire. ARTEMUS CITYLIMITS broke a step slow with the rider back in the saddle leaving the gate, recouped smartly to get the lead on the fence down the backside, set a lively pace while pressed throughout in the turn running, battled inside bobbing heads for the lead in mid-stretch but could not continue on late and faded inside rivals in the last sixteenth just holding onto a minor placing in the end. CRUMLIN LAD stumbled on the break, settled three deep ahead of only one runner finding his footing along the backstretch, travelled three wide throughout the turn making no gain, swung out widest to the five path at the head of the lane but could not get into contention outside in the late running. BREEZERO galloped along at the back of the pack well within striking distance along the backside, took the short way around the bend inching up, shifted to the three path in upper stretch making a brief run improving position at the furlong marker but could not sustain the rally and gave way between horses in deep stretch.
