Chart notes
NEVER OBEY close up in the early stages, contested the pace between runners into the turn then vied for the lead from the three path to upper stretch, battled DIAMOND TORNADO to the final sixteenth, wore down that game rival in deep stretch and held in the final yards over the oncoming runner-up. BO DIDDLEY off a bit slowly leaving the gate, settled in the early stages then shifted to the outside approaching the turn, coaxed from the four then five path to upper stretch, closed willingly to the furlong marker, fought on from the outside into the final sixteenth and just missed for the win, while earning the nod for second. DIAMOND TORNADO hustled away from the gate, contested the early pace from the inside, dueled into the turn then led while off of the rail to upper stretch, dug in into the final furlong, battled on even terms into the final sixteenth and grudgingly yielded to the top pair in deep stretch. LUKA'S CHOICE settled in the second flight and saved ground early on, kept an inside path while well placed to the turn, saved all of the ground to upper stretch then chased to the furlong marker, couldn't sustain a run to the final sixteenth and flattened out. THE MOE SHOW off slow then pinched leaving the start and spotted the field to begin, improved position while widest into the turn, coaxed five to six wide to upper stretch, couldn't muster the needed response in the lane and passed a tired rival late. VERN GOSDIN forwardly placed to the turn, vied for the lead three wide and from the four path into the bend, battled to the quarter marker, couldn't keep pace into the final furlong and faded in the drive. SMOKEM WICKED settled leaving the start then lacked speed to the turn, trailed along the inside to upper stretch then passed a tiring rival in the late stages. PUB CHEESE BOB came out at the start and crowded an outer rival, chased the early pace between foes, was outrun to upper stretch then came up empty in the drive.
