Chart notes
HOLD YOUR APPLAUSE was well placed to be in striking distance through the final turn, rallied steadily from five wide to overtake the leaders in the final sixteenth and was going away at the wire. FINN MCSORLEY stalked the pacesetter to the far turn, steadily closed the gap to engage the leader midway down the lane, took a brief lead inside the eighth pole and was outfinished in deep stretch. RAMBLIN BETTS set a quick pace on a clear lead to midway on the turn, battled when challenged in upper stretch and weakened in the final furlong. PRINCE KHOZAN tracked the leaders to the top of the lane and lacked a closing kick. TRAVELLER was slow early to race at the back of the field and passed weaker in the lane. NOBLE STAR was one-paced never posing a threat. BURNIN TURF raced in mid-pack to midway on the far turn, failed to respond when called upon and faded to the rear. VIA DELLA SPIGA reared as the gates opened, held by assistant starter to ensure safety, recovered to be distant trailer and was declared a non-starter.THE STEWARDS POSTED AN INQUIRY INTO THE START REGARDING VIA DELLA SPIGA, UPON REVIEW THEY DETERMINED HE DID NOT RECEIVE A FAIR START AND HE WAS DECLARED A NON-STARTEER AND ALL WAGERS WERE REFUNDED.
