CUNIMBUS broke with the leaders, dueled through the first turn, showed the way up the backstretch through some lively fractions, edged clear late in the final turn, extended that advantage when straightened for home and maintained daylight to the wire under steady handling. BEACH BLANKET lacked early foot, continued well back late backstretch, began a steady advance in the two path through the second turn, dropped to the inside past a tiring rival in midstretch, finished willingly to be clear for the place, left with too much to do to threaten the winner. DOUBLE STANDARDS in some traffic when racing well off the pace into the first turn, continued well back the second quarter, encountered additional traffic into the far turn, two path through that bend, lodged a willingly rally through the lane to be in time for the show. CLEARLY ARTEMUS off a step slow, three wide through the first turn, dropped inside to save ground through the second bend, bettered his position, not enough late for the show. RANDY DAYTONA back off the pace while saving ground through the first turn, moved out a bit and was three to four wide turning for home, went flat the final furlong to finish up evenly. ISLAND CABANA off the early pace out in the course, four wide through the first turn, raced three wide through the second, improved a bit without making a major impact. RUNFORJUSTICE off a step slow, raced behind some traffic into the first turn when trailing, continued back, passed a couple of tiring foes late. LIL HENRY dueled early inside the winner, fell back off that one a bit before a half but continued forwardly, gave way in the drive. CORPORAL PAUL forwardly placed outside the winner through those quick fractions, chased that one into the stretch, caved in the final furlong to lose considerable position.
