Chart notes

BIG HAT WILLIE tossed his head just as the latch was sprung but broke with the body of the field then dropped back, settled off the pace, was roused in the four then three path on the turn, came under stronger encouragement in upper stretch, angled out at the eighth-pole, rallied outside in the final furlong and closed strongly to get up late and prevail. RED STATE chased the pace on the outside, dropped from the six path to the four path early on the turn, was driven into the stretch in the six path, gained to make a bid while still on his inside lead outside the furlong marker, took the lead just inside that marker, led into the final sixteenth but was caught while continuing on his inside lead to the finish. KID BILLY disputed the pace on the outside of two foes, dropped from the five path to the three path early on the turn, was asked in the five path near the quarter-pole, led narrowly under a drive into the final furlong then lost the advantage to the winner and was outifnished while clear for the show. DISARMED disputed the pace between horses, moved from the four path to the two path early on the turn, was asked in the three path into the stretch, battled inside of two opponents into the final furlong and weakened. UNCLE JIM was hustled from the gate then urged along off the pace, went around the turn in the three then four path, came into the stretch in the six path and failed to threaten. NEUSCHWANSTEIN settled off the pace, dropped back with a half-mile to run, went around the turn in the two path, lugged inward after turning into the stretch and was no factor. GRAYWING contested the pace on the inside of two foes while off the inside, went from the three path to the rail early on the turn, dropped back under urging into upper stretch and tired. GO IRISH moved in while urged along towards the back, saved ground on the turn, spun into the stretch in the two path and failed to respond.
