Chart notes
DISTANT FLEET broke well, then contested the early pace four-deep, took command of the pace near the three-furlong pole, and drew clear of a rival in the stretch to prevail. DON'T HIT ME BASH vied five-wide in the early pace battle, went on to duel through the turn with DISTANT FLEET, floated a little wide into the stretch to lose some ground, and was unable to close ground on that rival late but finished well clear of the third horse. NABERS was initially near the back after the break, moved up to be in range as the field entered the turn, continued to run on through the stretch, was never getting to the top pair, but finished clear of the next horse to claim the minor award. MAGICAL MARK outrun early, kept to the inside to the stretch, then swung out five-wide and improved. CAMPFIRE CREED tracked in the middle of the pack on the inside, lost position on the turn, shifted out to the four or five path, and finished with some mild interest while never a serious threat. GIANNO rushed up into the early pace mix, dropped out after passing the half-mile pole, dropped back, and finished evenly. BEST CHOICE BABY settled in the back half early on, advanced through the turn, racing three to four wide, but was unable to sustain the effort and faltered. ALWAYS ON CAY was two-deep in the early pace battle, did not respond when asked to kick on midway through the turn, and tired. SHUT UP MICHAEL (IRE) took a bump from the outside rival at the start, raced three-wide near the back, and lacked a finish.
