MIDNIGHT CHANNEL unhurried to the half-mile, weaved through runners nearing the quarter marker, angled five wide to upper stretch, mounted a sustained rally to the final sixteenth, surged in deep stretch and was up in time for a determined win. MUNNY TOWN vied for the early lead then took command into the first turn, dictated terms to the second turn then was overtaken nearing the quarter marker, battled along the inside into upper stretch and fought gamely to the final sixteenth, was outfinished in deep stretch and held for second. ACCONA vied for the early lead then stalked the pace to the backstretch, went up to vie for the lead between foes into the far turn, took command to upper stretch and led to the furlong grounds, grudgingly yielded to the pair in deep stretch and was a clear third. BIG COMMERCE forwardly placed to the first turn, settled in the second flight heading into the backstretch, went up to vie for the lead three wide nearing the quarter marker, battled into upper stretch, couldn't find more to the final sixteenth and weakened in the late stages. GARRINCHA took back into the first turn, made a steady advance along the rail into the far turn, chased from the inside to upper stretch, couldn't sustain that run to the final furlong and flattened out. KICK IT IN vied for the early lead from the inside, got shuffled back into the first turn, settled to the half-mile pole, trailed to the quarter marker then did not factor in the stretch drive. GUCCI MAN vied for the early lead then took back, coaxed from the second flight and outside of rivals nearing the half-mile marker, lacked the needed response while three wide nearing the quarter pole then came up empty in the lane.
