Chart notes
SWISS GUARD stalked up close three wide, took over past the quarter pole, drew clear, was eased up late. JACK SPRAT set the pace from off the rail, was overtaken leaving the far turn, was no match for the winner but fought on to hold second. REDFIELD shifted in on the first turn, settled inside the second flight up the backstretch, bobbled and lost the iron at the three-eighths, got things right passing the five-sixteenths, came out four wide at the top of the stretch, ran on outside but missed the place. LUCKY BOSS lacked early speed, switched out off the inside for the run up the backstretch, swung nine wide into upper stretch and showed late interest. AMERICAN CAUSE was forwardly-placed outside racing mostly three to four wide, failed to rally. SPAN lacked early speed, shifted in up the backstretch, improved inside. KING ICE raced off the pace and off the rail, moved out and took closer order four to five wide up the backstretch, exchanged light bumps, weakened. EUCLID AVENUE switched out off the rail on the first turn, moved up five to six wide outside heading up the backstretch, exchanged some light bumps, steadily weakened.
