Chart notes
MATTAWA N THAT had the best speed and set the pace under pressure, met the bid of the runnerup a quarter mile out then battled that one hand, boot and whip to the line. PRINCE OF MEMPHIS pressed the winner to the quarter pole, pushed up and was on terms a furlong out then battled on gamely and just missed. AIN'T NO SISSY never far back, saved ground to the stretch and finished well. MR. EXECUTIVE broke a bit slow then hustled up inside to try to duel but was in tight and squeezed, steadied leaving the quarter pole the first time and saved ground without offering the needed late response. MOUNT PELLIAR had no speed, was off the rail to the stretch and lacked the needed bid. UNCLE LEON tracked the pace for a half , was three wide but weakened in the final furlong. GREAT RUNNER had no speed and was never a threat. PESO stumbled at the start, chased the pace for a half mile then lugged out to the stretch and gave way.
