Chart notes
SCHWARZ ducked in sharply at the start, then steadily advanced down the backstretch to be in range of the leaders heading into the turn, tipped out to the three path late on the turn the responded when set down for the drive, had some trouble changing leads in upper stretch but got straight in the final furlong, collared the tiring leader and drew clear in the final yards. VELVETFREEZE briefly dueled with SERENE EMPRESS for the first quarter mile, move to a clear advantage before the turn, opened up in upper stretch, then got a little short in the late stages and was unable to last, while saving the place. TOUGH SAMARITAN raced in the middle of the pack while always three to four wide, stayed on well late and moved up to take the minor award. SERENE EMPRESS briefly dueled SCHWARZ for the early lead, did not continue to press when that rival went clear, remained close but lacked a late kick. MYSTIC D was unable to keep pace early and dropped back, saved ground to no avail, but showed some mild interest in the final furlong. WILDWOOD ROAD took a bump from the inside after the start, was outpaced early, stayed three-wide, then came out five-wide for the stretch run and lacked a finish. SCALDING HOT was reluctant to load, rushed up to press the pace near the half-mile pole, then weakened in upper stretch.
