Chart notes
DEL RAYO took command from the gate, set a well measured, well rated pace to the far turn, repelled rivals challenge turning for home and kicked away in the lane having controlled throughout in a well handled ride. MAYNARD tracked the pacesetter from the fence onto the backstretch, was hard held off heels near the half mile, continued along the rail into the turn, backed away a bit on the bend while pinned to the rail and rallied well when in the clear in the lane to be up for the place. TOMMY BEE prompted the pace from three wide for five-eighths, rallied to engage the leader at the quarter pole, was turned away by the winner at the head of the stretch and ran-on willingly in the lane. LIGHTNING CHARLIE was not a threat trailing most of the way. BASSCOAT failed to menace going evenly near the rear of the pack.
