Chart notes
HARDTOBLAME got shuffled back a bit at the start, raced in the middle of the tracking group early, then moved up late on the turn under a ride to get within range of the runaway leader, responded to strong handling and urging to collar that rival in the last sixteenth and drew clear in the end. BENEDICICI emerged from the chute with the lead, opened up a clear lead on the turn, came into the stretch with only one rival in serious pursuit, then yielded in the late stages. WEST IS WEST settled mid-pack but widest of all down the backstretch, made a forward move through the turn, came four-wide into the stretch with aim on the leading pair, flattened out and was unable to threaten, but held third. FIGHT MONEY stumbled, then got run into by the inside rival, settled well behind the rest, then advanced three-wide through the turn, then swung five-wide into the stretch and improved position. DASHING AMERICAN raced mid-pack in the second group, then lacked a rally. WHAT DO YOU MEAN pressed the early pace while racing wide down the backstretch, weakened late on the turn, and did not have much to offer in the stretch. AMERICAN KNIGHT dropped to the back before the turn and showed little. MENDELSSOHNS MUSIC ducked out at the start, tracked inside with the second flight, struggled to keep pace on the turn, then came up empty in the stretch.
