Chart notes
AMERICAN EMPIRE secured the rail and the lead entering the first turn, controlled the early pace, opened up a clear advantage down the backstretch, responded when set down at the top of the stretch, and drew farther clear to the wire. WINNING BIG saved ground while tracking off the pace, launched a bid leaving the three-furlong pole and pursued the eventual winner into the stretch, but could not bridge the gap while remaining comfortably clear of the rest. KIRBY DERBY settled in mid-pack and failed to mount a serious late rally, but kept on sufficiently to claim third. VINNIEBOB ceded the lead to AMERICAN EMPIRE on the first turn and tracked close up down the backstretch, but offered little response when asked to go after the leader approaching the far turn and continued at one pace thereafter. PLEASEUSETHEPORTAL settled well back and failed to make an impact in the late stages. CANDY'S CHROME was unhurried at the rear through the early stages and never made meaningful headway. THE 1M FRACTION WAS NOT AVAILABLE DUE TO A TIMER MALFUNCTION.
