Chart notes
VELVET RAGE was nudged between rivals wanting the front end, maintained a slim advantage inside down the backstretch, battled determinedly inside a pesky rival that would not go away around the turn while moving well ahead of the rest of the group, edged away scraping paint getting a neck in front by mid-stretch and found more when spurred on for run in the last sixteenth to pull away for the gutsy front end tally. REACH FOR THE TOP prompted the pace outside down the back straight, continued two wide outside throwing it down up top while separating even further from others around the bend, could not match strides with the winner who was slipping clear at the head of the lane and chased the winner home in vain in the final furlong but was just second best on this day. FRAC IS THE JUDGE had the outside basically paired up with another throughout in the second tier, shifted to the three path closing the gap on the embattled twosome straightening out for home but could not get into contention in the final furlong with the top pair but still kept on coming to be a non threatening third when crossing the finish line. UNHEARD had the inside position in tandem with an outside foe in the second flight well off the contesting pair, still had the inside two wide trying to stave off an outside foe in upper stretch for the third place share but ran on evenly in the last eighth of a mile to be a fringe player in the end. DANCIN MARY MARIE had the fence trailing the group down the backside, lagged well back off the group in the turn running, lost touch shifting out threee wide turning for home and cantered in through the lane.
