Chart notes
PHILIPSBURG (IRE) was sent to vie for the early lead outside UNCLE HEADLEY, moved clear on the bend, floated out some after being roused leaving the turn, drew away upper stretch, steadily bore out after entering the last furlong but maintained full control. SWAGGY GEORGE unhurried while widest, lost further ground fanning to path six into the lane, angled in midstretch, made a strong move the final eighth and caught ARROW STRIKE for second nearing the wire. ARROW STRIKE chased from inside, commenced his bid in the stretch, took over second approaching the last sixteenth, was outfinished but easily best of the rest. KING DOODLE was sent to prompt the early pace from outside, lost ground staying in path four on the bend, drifted out to the middle of the track entering the stretch, would not move in any though his rider tried to point him toward the inside and drifted out again inside the final furlong. SPANISH DOUBLOON was steadied from inside when his path narrowed after travelling the first eighth, altered out, did not keep up from path three on the turn, fanned out further into the lane, was checked hard and altered out when the faltering UNCLE HEADLEY came into his path, was unresponsive to brief urging and allowed to coast the last eighth. UNCLE HEADLEY vied for the early lead from inside, began to yield on the turn, angled out nearing the end of a half mile, sustained an injury upper stretch, was pulled up and taken off the track via equine ambulance.
