Chart notes
EL JOY allowed to settle away from the start, saved ground into the first turn, tracked the dueling pacesetters while saving ground through the backstretch run, advanced nearing the far turn and was well placed at the three-eighths, mounted a three wide bid at the quarter pole and vied for the lead into upper stretch, took command at the furlong grounds, drew clear into the final sixteenth and held in the late stages over the oncoming runner-up. WESTERN CAPE allowed to settle in the early running, maintained a ground saving trip while unhurried through the backstretch run, saved all of the ground into the far turn and was well placed nearing the quarter pole, loomed into upper stretch, angled out at the furlong marker and closed willingly into the final sixteenth, could not reel in the winner in the late stages and was a clear second at the wire. NIGHT PROOF broke alertly and was sent to the early lead, engaged with PAID IN FULL and contested the pace inside of that rival into the first turn, disputed quick fractions into the backstretch run, shook free into the far turn and held a clear lead nearing the quarter pole, came under pressure into upper stretch and was overtaken at the furlong pole, could not match strides with the top pair late and was clear in the end for third. EVER A REBEL tracked the early pace outside of runners, raced three to four wide into the first turn, unhurried through the backstretch run, gained ground into the far turn and went four to five wide nearing the quarter marker, widest into upper stretch, could not sustain his run into the final furlong and weakened. SEATTLE BREAKOUT lunged at the start and was away slowly, settled off of the early pace, went three to four wide into the first turn, content to trail along the backstretch run, raced two to three wide into the far turn and did not factor in the late stages. PAID IN FULL prominent away from the start, engaged with NIGHT PROOF in the early running, disputed the pace outside of that rival into the clubhouse turn, dueled through quick fractions into the backstretch run, could not keep pace into the far turn, lost position at the quarter pole and tired in the late stages. This race was originally hand timed and was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
