Chart notes
PAYNT BY LETTERS was encouraged to a clear lead and the inside, allowed to relax on the backstretch and second bend, moved clear again when urged upper stretch and prevailed while ridden out under confident handling. CATEGORY TEN bumped at the start, moved up from outside on the backstretch, angled in beside PAYNT BY LETTERS with four and a half furlongs to go, did not stay with the latter upper stretch, did not relent, lacked the extra needed in the waning yards but proved easily best of the rest. HANDSOFFTHEGOODS broke outward, bumping CATEGORY TEN, was solidly in hand while trying to drift out early in the first turn, stayed close just off the inside, angled out for a clear path into the second bend, came four wide into the stretch, lacked a significant response but drew clear for third late. POLICY OPTION settled, gradually advanced from inside to have a striking position on the second turn, angled out some at the top of the stretch for a clear path, battled for third, his jockey lost his riding crop inside the final eighth and he slowly yielded the show position to HANDSOFFTHEGOODS. ROCKET HOTSHOT chased from outside, was widest on the second bend, faded leaving that turn, angled in midstretch and had little to offer.
