UPSTART YANKEE stalked WINTER FALCON on the pace three wide to the far turn, was always close, bid three wide into the stretch, produced a steady rally and wore down that rival in the final yards for the win. WINTER FALCON sent hard from the break and went two wide into the first turn, allowing HEAT N REHEAT to challenge on the rail, took command heading on to the backstretch with the stalking pair in close pursuit, moderated the pace to the far turn the kicked on from the five-sixteenths, took a short lead into the stretch, finished well under strong handling and intermittent urging, was game but passed in the last jumps. BIG SPIN broke slow and was also slow into stride, raced near the back of the field inside of TABLE FOR TEN, was already in a drive passing the five furlong pole and continued with a slow, steady advance through the turn and into the stretch found best stride in the final furlong, close strongly in the final yards but came up short. HEAT N REHEAT was hustled from the break and contested the early pace into the first turn, ceded the lead to WIINTER FALCON before the backstretch run and dropped back to a stalking position on the inside, remained close through the far turn but had to idle a bit waiting for room, moved out to the two path approaching the quarter pole, loomed three wide at the top of the stretch then flattened out in the last furlong. TABLE FOR TEN lacked speed in the early stages and lagged behind the rest along with BIG SPIN, was asked for more passing the three furlong marker but did not respond, came three wide into the stretch and did not menace.
