Chart notes
SWIFT STEPHAN hustled away from the start, assumed early command and set a decent pace heading to the half-mile marker, showed the way into the turn and drew to a clear lead at the quarter pole while off of the rail, drifted out into upper stretch, maintained a clear lead nearing the furlong marker and was kept to task into the final sixteenth while a bit green, widened the lead in deep stretch and was geared down in the final strides as much the best. HEPHEPCUTDOWNNETS was fractious prior to the start, broke slowly and spotted the field to begin, recovered and tracked the decent early pace outside of rivals heading to the half-mile marker, chased three wide into the turn, gained ground at the quarter marker and sustained his bid into the lane, was able to close the gap on the winner into the final sixteenth but was no match for that one late and outfinished SAWYER'S SPEED for second. SAWYER'S SPEED was prominent away from the start, stalked the decent early pace outside of SWIFT STEPHAN, attended to the decent pace nearing the turn, shifted to the inside and chased the pace nearing the quarter marker, ran in pursuit into the stretch, could not match strides with the winner into the final sixteenth, was outfinished late for second and held safely in the end for third. SILVERCROSS hustled away from the start, vied for the early lead between runners then took back and tracked the decent pace heading to the half-mile marker, saved ground into the turn and lost position nearing the quarter pole, ran evenly to mid-stretch, re-rallied into the final furlong and came up just short of a minor award. SIR RANCHERO chased the early pace from outside of rivals, took back and tracked the leading pair nearing the half-mile marker, saved ground into the turn and was well placed nearing the quarter marker, ran in pursuit into upper stretch and did not offer a late response. HIGHLAND ECHO settled off of the decent early pace, lacked early speed and trailed nearing the half-mile, improved position three wide into the turn, swung widest into upper stretch and did not threaten in the late stages. SHAKE THE DUST chased the decent early pace from the inside, was outrun to the turn, trailed to the quarter pole and did not factor in the stretch drive.
