Chart notes
HANDSOME GARY broke best and dueled with COWBOY KISSES to the turn, shook off that foe approaching the quarter pole, took a short lead into the stretch, responded to a late bid by HORSE DOCTOR and held clear at the wire. HORSE DOCTOR tracked four wide down the backstretch while always close up to the pace, made a sweeping move on the turn to gain contention the finished well under steady handling and intermittent urging, was slowly gaining on HANDSOME GARY in the late stages but ran out of time. WARRENS WORLD broke a step slow then rushed up to the leaders but ran into some traffic switched out a path for clear run before the turn, then bid three wide from the five-sixteenth pole, loomed in upper stretch but was outkicked in the late stages. SATANTA lacked any early speed, lagged well behind the field down the backstretch, made a mild late run down the stretch to improve position but was never a serious threat. MAJOR TOM tracked up close racing on the rail, had to wait a bit through the turn, then finished evenly under pressure down the stretch and was outfinished in the final yards. COWBOY KISSES dueled with HANDSOME GARY through pretty fast early fractions started to weakened near at the top of the stretch and was no factor in the late stages.
