Chart notes
BIG BAD BERT broke well, vied for the early lead with TRUE MANTRA and MR THIRSTY, kicked away together with the latter heading into the turn, took a short lead at the top of the stretch, finished well under steady handling and just held on. TRUE MANTRA broke well, was part of the early pace mix then dropped back to a tracking position on the turn, came back on up the rail under steady handling and intermittent urging, was gaining rapidly on the eventual but came a nose short. SHAKE THE DUST broke a step slow then rushed up to join the early pace fray, was lugging out down the backstretch then dropped off the pace and switched out to the three path for the turn through the turn, was steadily losing ground on the turn and into the stretch then found best stride late and kicked home strongly to gain the third spot. YOUR SWEET BABY was outrun from the break, made a middle move to gain contention through the turn, came four wide into the stretch, loomed, then flattened out. MR. THIRSTY broke well, hustled for the early lead, joined by a trio to the inside contesting the first quarter mile, went on with BIG BAD BERT from the seven-sixteenths pole and dueled that foe through the turn and into the stretch, remained a factor to the furlong grounds then weakened in the final yards.
