Chart notes
HAPPY was sent hard from the break, gained the lead from DANCING KITTEN after passing the half-mile pole, then was joined by and dueled with CHALKONEUPFORMOM through the turn, got the better of that foe passing the quarter pole, went clear at the top of the stretch and won going away. COIFFEUR was outrun early, went into a drive from the three furlong marker, came three wide into the stretch, sustained the run and was just up for the place. MAXWELL ST BLUES was allowed to settle after the break and tracked behind the early pace action, was in a stiff drive from the five-sixteenths pole, alternating leads down the stretch and just failed to hold second. CHALKONEUPFORMOM broke slowly then rushed up to join the early pace, dueled with HAPPY through the turn then gave way at the quarter pole and tired in the stretch. DANCING KITTEN broke best, dueled with HAPPY through the initial stages, drifted wide through the turn, dropped out of contention and was not a factor in the stretch.
