SEA OF LIBERTY forwardly placed to begin, tracked the early pace three wide into the first turn, advanced three deep into the backstretch run and stalked the moderate pace approaching the half-mile marker, vied for the lead three wide into the far turn, chased BIG FLAME into upper stretch, fought gamely while inside of that rival into the final furlong, drew to even terms with BIG FLAME into the final sixteenth, gained a narrow advantage in deep stretch and held in the final strides for a determined win. BIG FLAME hopped at the start and broke a bit slowly, recovered and settled in the second flight while two to three wide into the first turn, well placed into the backstretch run, tracked the moderate pace heading to the half-mile marker, roused three to four wide into the far turn, vied for the lead at the quarter pole and took a narrow lead into upper stretch, dug in while leading at the furlong marker, met the bid of SEA OF LIBERTY into the final sixteenth, hung in deep stretch, was overtaken for the win in the final strides and was well clear of the rest for second. SUNNY SPOT allowed to settle, was well placed in the early going and saved ground into the first turn, tracked the moderate pace heading to the half-mile marker, got caught a bit in tight into the second turn but improved position while two to three wide nearing the quarter pole, outkicked into the stretch, could not find the needed response late but stayed on in deep stretch to be clear for third. POUR ON THE COLE sent leaving the start, assumed early command and drew to a clear lead into the first turn, set moderate fractions while prompted through the backstretch run, battled into the second turn and held a narrow lead at the quarter pole, overtaken into upper stretch, could not keep pace into the final furlong and faded late. STAY LIT settled off of the moderate early pace, saved ground into the backstretch run, was unhurried to the half-mile pole, went two to three wide nearing the quarter marker, angled widest into the stretch and could not summon the needed late response. ECOLOGIST allowed to settle in the early stages, went three wide into the first turn, content to trail through the backstretch run, lost contact at the three furlong marker and did not factor in the stretch drive. CONTINENTAL UNION away in good order, stalked the early pace outside of POUR ON THE COLE, advanced into the backstretch run and prompted that rival through moderate fractions heading to the half-mile pole, stalked between runners approaching the far turn, lost ground nearing the quarter marker and tired in the stretch drive.
