Chart notes
HOURS IN A DAY switched out near the three-quarter pole, moved up to make a bid near the five-eighths pole, took the lead before the nine-sixteenths, vied in the two path on the turn, responded well when put to the crop in upper stretch, disposed of the runner-up inside the furlong marker and drew away under a strong hand-ride in the final sixteenth. YORK TAVERN moved out early then advanced on the outside entering the main-track, made a bid late on the backstretch, vied in the four path on the turn, turned into upper stretch on even terms for the lead, battled with the winner under a drive into the final furlong and proved no match while well clear for the place. MR. MENDELSSOHN was hustled to the front, moved in near the three-quarter pole, lost the lead around the nine-sixteenths pole, dropped back along the rail on the turn, chased into the stretch and weakened. CONNIVING brushed with a rival at the start, was well spotted just off the pace, moved from the rail to the two path under urging early on the turn, was driven three wide into the stretch and lacked the needed response then missed the show. GOLDEN PURCHASE broke out and brushed with a foe, was urged along off the pace, moved out near the nine-sixteenths, went three to four wide on the turn, came five wide into the stretch and also lacked the needed response. PUFF'SMAGICDRAGON drifted out in the chute, raced well back on the outside, moved closer under urging in the five path on the turn, spun into the stretch in the six path and came up empty. BATTLE OF BRITAIN broke out at the start, pressed the pace on the outside then in the three path on the turn, dropped back outside the five-sixteenths pole and retreated.
