Chart notes
FOREST WOODSMAN broke in on the start, had a nice position watching the engaged duo down the backside, moved in outside through the turn measuring the frontrunner, bid four wide straightening out for the drive and determinedly got the better of a tenacious pacesetter inside in the final seventy yards. QUESTION MARK stumbled on the break, quickly recovered to take this field down the back straight in the two path, edged away outside for a clear lead with three furlongs from home dictating terms around the bend, was headed outside while travelling two wide just off the fence in upper stretch, fought on stubbornly to the sixteenth pole and gave way to the winner in deep stretch. SCREEN LEGEND was checked in tight quarters leaving the chute trailing the group down the backstretch, began to reach for more ground passing foes midturn, was full of run between horses in the three path at the top of the lane and got up for a distant but clear third at the finish line. GET READY SET FIRE had stalking role three deep ahead of the troubled runners down the backside, offered a brief run through the turn from the three eighths pole to the quarter marker, still with the mix battling five wide on the outside for third money in early stretch but was one paced late and settled on the fringes in the end. SWERVIN MERVYN moved in after the break to force the issue inside down the back straight, was roused but could quicken with the top two around the bend, dueled inside rivals for the show award in upper stretch but weakened in the final furlong. MANALUCIUS was steadied between runners seeing the field at the start, improved slightly on the fence along the backside, retreated through the turn, lost touch with the group by the top of the stretch, was eased when crossing the wire and walked off.
