MASTERY KAT was a little slow into stride then allowed to settle, rated kindly well off the pace while saving ground through the early going, got a dream run through the far turn and into the stretch, finished well under steady handling and intermittent urging to prevail. SHANGHAI MIST was taken in hand after the start and settled behind the early pace scramble, rated well off the pace in the two path, advanced steadily down the backstretch then going into the turn was stuck behind horses, found a seam to the outside near the five-sixteenths marker, got clear, came five wide into the stretch, rallied and just missed. BOLD DAUGHTER was unprepared for the start and got away a step slow, lacked any early speed and settled far behind the field through the first half-mile, started to run on through the turn, got stuck behind horses in upper stretch, got some room late and was gaining ground in deep stretch but was too late. POKER ALICE was encouraged for forward position from the break then content to stalk the pace three wide down the backstretch, drew even with J AND M EXPRESS passing the three furlong pole and dueled with that foe into the stretch, got the advantage in the final furlong but was outfinished by the top three. J AND M EXPRESS broke well but ceded the lead to PROOF OF JAZZ, stalked that one under a stout rating hold, was let loose before the three furlong marker and left that rival behind while being tackled by POKER ALICE then SHANGHAI MIST battled to mid-stretch then weakened in the final furlong and was outfinished. DERRYGOOLIN came away well but caught four wide into the first turn, tracked fairly close to the pace down the backstretch while staying wide, tried to launch a rally on the far turn, but stalled, came five wide into the stretch and lacked a rally. PROOF OF JAZZ won the race to the first turn and tried to slow down the pace, gave way readily when challenged near the three furlong pole and had little to offer in the stretch.
