Chart notes
NOLDE was allowed to settle far behind through the early stages, moved closer on the run down the backstretch, started to run on from the seven-sixteenths pole, circled the field on the far turn, came seven wide into the stretch, inhaled the field and drew off as much the best under a mild hand ride. FANTASTIC DREAM rated under a snug hold behind the runaway leaders, responded when set down passing the half-mile pole, took the lead approaching the quarter pole, had the lead in the stretch, was no match for the winner but outfinished the rest. BIG FLAME was unhurried and raced four wide down the backstretch, made steady forward progress from the half-mile pole still wide through the far turn, loomed a threat five wide at the top of the stretch and finished evenly. PLAYBOY STYLE tracked between horses in the tracking group, launched a rally with three furlongs to run, produced a grinding finish under steady handling but came up short for a minor award. LORD WIMBORNE (IRE) settled inside mid-pack in a strung out field, launched a bid approaching the three furlong marker, got a clean run into the stretch and finished well but was not good enough. GALLANT WARREN raced between horses well off the early pacesetter, started to run on after passing the seven-sixteenths pole, finished willingly could not make up the needed ground. LANGSTON ROAD opened up a big lead on the field save for STORMIN GALILEO tracking just behind, set solid but not unreasonable fractions, fought back some when surrounded by the rest of the field at the quarter pole then stopped in upper stretch and galloped out the final furlong. STORMIN GALILEO ran off early with LANGSTON ROAD with the rider doing his best to temper the pace, raced a length behind that foe to the far turn then came under a stiff ride with three furlongs to run, tired and was not persevered with late when hopelessly behind.
