Chart notes

GRUBAUER broke out and bumped SAINT IVES off stride, then was allowed to settle, angled over to the rail when clear, tracked the pace then slipped through an opening along the rail near the five-sixteenths pole, took command at the top of the stretch and finished well under steady handling to hold clear. BOB'S BLUE MOON veered out after the start while being hustled away from the gate, was not quick enough to contest the lead, tracked three wide down the backstretch then launched a bid starting from the seven-sixteenths pole, bid three wide at the top of the stretch with GRUBAUER and REGAL PATRIOT to the inside, finished willingly under a steady drive and just missed in a solid effort. REGAL PATRIOT was off a beat slow and beaten to the front by IDAHO ONCE, moved out to the two path then stalked that rival to the turn, was met by GRUBAUER on the inside and BOB'S BLUE MOON on the outside, vied between those horses into the lane and down the stretch and was outfinished by the latter for the place. SAINT IVES took a hard bump from GRUBAUER after the break, then slow to get going and was last through the early going, tried to launch a bid on the turn but was outkicked and no factor in the stretch. IDAHO ONCE was quickest away and opened up a length on the field early, held sway to the turn, then started to weaken, took a bump from BOB'S BLUE MOON at the three furlong marker, lost momentum, struggled to get back into a rhythm and was eased in the final furlong.
