Chart notes
MOHAYMEN DIAMOND bobbled on the break, tracked the lead duo outside in the beginning, moved in three deep down the backstretch, bid for the lead three wide three eighths out, stubbornly continued to battle in the three path with an inside foe at the top of the stretch, found another gear late and pulled away for the win in the final seventy yards. MISTER MONOCLONAL was content to track the pacesetter outside on the first turn, edged up to the leader in the two path between horses down the backside, vied for the lead with rivals on either side three furlongs from the line, dueled inside with the winner in upper stretch, fought on gamely until the sixteenth pole but could not keep up late and settled for second best on this day. LITTLE THONIO was hard held navigating the first turn on the rail watching the top two in the early stages, kept pace roused on the rail in the final turn, angled out in the two path off the tiring early leader at the quarter pole, shifted three wide for the drive and finished with intent to win the battle for the show award outside. ZAPPO stalked near the rear two wide, made little movement down the back straight, closed the gap three wide through the far turn, shifted to the rail by the eighth pole finding a seam and finished up willingly on the fence for a minor role in the end. YORKTON'S HONOUR stalked three wide in midfield on the first turn, advanced to be in the second flight outside at the half, made a brief run around the final bend to be in range five wide turning for home but stalled with a sixteenth of a mile from the wire. WATSONVILLE RED trailed on the rail at the start, made little improvement ahead of one rival down the backside, offered little rally through the far turn and could not get involved in the six path for the stretch running. NIKINZIE travelled three wide outside at the rear in the first turn, made little headway down the backside and rallied late on the fence to pick up a couple of weary horses in the final sixteenth. HERE I GO stalked in the two path close to the back off the pack, made an early move three deep at the seven sixteenths pole, circled around foes four wide with a quarter mile to go, could not sustain the rally five wide in the stretch and tired in the final seventy yards. GUN FIRE took command on the rail going into the first turn, continued up top but was hounded outside along the backside, was under a ride on the rail trying to stay up top with the two outside foes with three eighths remaining, retreated on the fence through the far turn and stopped in the two path at the furlong marker.
