STEVE'S BIG TICKET raced three wide of the trio tracking the early pacesetter, was given the cue with three furlongs to go and responded with a sustained rally, went together with CANGREJO to challenge BOSTON BURGLAR at the top of the stretch, went outside to the four path as that one was backing up then lugged in at the sixteenth pole, brushed with CANGREJO as they dueled to the wire and got a head in front in the final jump. CANGREJO was inside of the tracking group, saved all the ground through the turn, was making a move in tandem with STEVE'S BIG TICKET slipped inside of BOSTON BURGLAR near the furlong marker, re-engaged with the former in a race to the wire, absorbed some contact at the sixteenth and came up short at the wire in a good effort. RIVER'S BENCHMARK was not pushed from the gate and raced at the rear of the pack inside of TRIANGLE was set down before the three furlong pole and had a clean run through the turn and into the stretch, finished willingly under handling and was along for third while no threat to the top pair. MENDONSA broke well, was hustled into the early pace mix, tracked a couple of lengths behind the pacesetter two to three wide then flattened out in the stretch and finished evenly. BOSTON BURGLAR was quick to the lead and led the field through the turn, started to weaken passing the quarter pole, drifted out turning for home, had little left for the stretch run and faded. TRIANGLE raced at the rear of the field through the early stages, had to be ridden to keep up from the seven-eights pole, came under heavy pressure at the top of the lane and was outrun in the stretch. ALIBI TERHUNE was off poorly, very slow into stride, trailed far behind early and was never a factor.
