DUPLICATION pressed the pace four wide down the backstretch, moved to bid for the lead with three furlongs to run then took a short lead passing the quarter pole, resisted a challenge from OUR EXPECTATION on the inside and held to the finish to prevail. OUR EXPECTATION broke well and tracked the developing speed duel while holding the rail position, got a dream trip through the turn and into the stretch, chased DUPLICATION to the wire but could not get by in a good effort. MY BUCKET LIST broke slowly and spotted the rest of the field a head start, bided time down the backstretch then circled the field five wide on the turn and continued to run on boldly down the stretch to gain third in the final furlong. AZURE STAR (IRE) broke well and went to the front, joined by CITY OF CHAMPIONS and dueled with that foe to the turn, went on as that rival dropped off the pace and battled on gamely despite being surrounded by challengers from the three furlong marker to the top of the stretch, gave way grudgingly with a furlong to run but continued on with good courage. DR. FLASH DANCER came away well and raced close up three to four wide down the backstretch, bid for the lead three wide at the three furlong pole, had every chance in the stretch but was outkicked late. CUT ACROSS SHORTY was bumped repeatedly by EDDIE CROSSWIRE during the early running, raced in the middle of the pack and held position into the stretch but could not summon another gear when needed. EDDIE CROSSWIRE broke awkwardly and veered inward at the start then bumped multiple times with CUT ACROSS SHORTY in the initial stages, raced on the outside of the tracking group, came under heavy pressure from the quarter pole and flattened out in mid-stretch. THUNDER OF ZION was put in a little tight by OUR EXPECTATION after the break, then raced well behind the pace while saving ground throughout, ran on mildly turning into the stretch but could not sustain and was outfinished. ELCONDOR was being pushed on from the start but unable to contest the early pace, raced five to six wide throughout and not a factor in the stretch. CITY OF CHAMPIONS broke in at the start and made light contact with AZURE STAR (IRE) then was hustled to the front, dueled to the outside of AZURE STAR (IRE) to the turn, yielded approaching the quarter pole when beset by challengers and came up empty in the stretch.
