Chart notes
EXPLORATION broke a step slow then steadied when put in close, regrouped and edged up wide nearing the half, was put to a ride chasing the leaders past the five sixteenths, circled four to five wide into the stretch, ranged up under right then left handed asking leaving mid stretch, kept on grinding under a solid hand ride through the final seventy yards and wore down CORINGA to prove best in the final yards. CORINGA prompted the pace three wide outside HEAVEN'S GOT FIRE, moved to command under some rating past the five sixteenths, responded when shaken up and went clear soon into the stretch, drifted a bit, wandered inward while on his left lead in mid stretch, had his rider lose the crop when attempting left handed work soon past mid stretch, switched over to his correct lead, continued valiantly when joined from his outside, dueled and just missed. BERMUDA RUN , a bit keen and pulling behind foes early on, put to a ride while saving some ground leaving the far turn, went evenly in the drive and got past a tiring rival. HEAVEN'S GOT FIRE drifted in tightening the winner at the start, corrected and sped to the front, set the pace in the two path, took pressure into and around the turn, ceded command with about a quarter mile remaining, failed to kick on leaving the three sixteenths and weakened.
