Chart notes
DEVILS RED went clear from the break, was joined by DRAGON DREW entering the turn but turned that one back late on the turn, opened up in the stretch then held all at bay to the finish under steady handling. CHRISTMAS PRESENT broke inward at the start, then hustled forward, was inside of the tracking group down the backstretch and content to not engage in the pace battle, got an inside run into the stretch, finished well under steady handling, could not catch the winner but was a clear second. CARL G was last away from the gate and trailed early, advanced to join the main pack before the turn then continued to run on through the turn, came three wide into the stretch and loomed to mid-stretch then went flat late. DRAGON DREW raced close up between horses then went to challenge DEVILS RED near the seven-sixteenths pole, was turned back to through the turn then had nothing left for the stretch run. SON OF GRACE was coaxed from the break to get forward position, pressed three wide into the turn then dropped off the pace, was getting out a bit late on the turn and unable to make an impact in the stretch. CHAMPAGNE MIKE was five wide down the backstretch then tucked in towards the rail on the turn but was outrun in the late stages.
