Chart notes
CHURCH AND STATE was bounced around between runners on the start, settled at the rear with a compact bunch at the half, stalked on the inside in the third pairing around the turn, had to wait behind runners with five sixteenths to go, shifted out four wide in upper stretch cutting loose finding a seam and with a relentless late flurry got up for the win outside in the final few jumps. INCOMING prompted the pace between horses down the back straight, chased the frontrunner inching up throughout the turn, turned up the pressure outside with two furlongs to go, edged away from the early leader at the sixteenth pole and gave way grudgingly between rivals in last few jumps before the wire. HIBISCUS was under a snug hold assuming the lead on the fence down the backstretch, continued up top inside while quickening the temp around the turn, dug in determinedly when headed outside clinging to the lead at the eighth pole and faded ever so slightly late to be third in a tight finish at the wire. MADAME OBEY broke out on the start, was content to watch the frontrunner outside three deep along the backside, could not maintain forward position backing away at the half while be nudged along, travelled two to three wide around the oval making little advance, shifted out five wide with runners on each side straightening out for home and came back on late for a minor placing in the end. THUNDERING was crowded on the break to trail at the start, moved up the rail by the half mile marker inside foes tracking the engaged pair, travelled just off the fence behind the front two around the turn, was scrubbed for more with a quarter mile to run but with little response and flattened out on the rail in mid-stretch. GRAFFITI WRITER broke inwards on the start, stalked four deep near the rear outside runners along the backside, travelled three wide on the outside in the third flight around the tun making little improvement, was fanned out in the six path for the stretch run and lacked a rally in the final furlong.
