Chart notes
NEXT PITCH was unhurried near the rear patiently finding his stride, smartly burst between horses commencing a move at the three-furlong pole, shifted out three wide in midturn measuring the leader, loomed a menacing presence outside three wide with a quarter mile remaining, cruised in the four path outside to seize command in upper stretch and when set down opened up quickly at the sixteenth pole to hold on comfortably for the win. DADDY HAS DIAMONDS had a slow start, trailing down the backside, followed the path set by the eventual winner with five sixteenths to go, ranged up five wide outside posing the main threat turning for home, closed in gradually at the furlong marker but could not get to the winner late. DIOMEDES kept a close eye on the pacesetter with runners on either side along the back straight, took closer order with a half mile remaining, chased outside throughout the turn moving in to bid in the two path between foes at the quarter pole, fought on inside dueling up top in upper stretch, could not go with the winner with an eighth left to go and gave way late to be a clear third at the finish. MOST LIKELY pressed the pace on the rail in the beginning, was reined back on the fence at the half to watch the loose leader, dropped back slightly inside horses midway around the bend, shifted to the three path for the drive to the wire and grinded away, re-surged down the lane and settled on the fringes in the end. MAGIC POWER narrowly led this field in the two path in the early going, cleared off, getting to the fence by the half, was collared outside by a couple of rivals two furlongs from the prize and flattened out on the rail in the stretch running. BOB AND JULES was checked on the rail in mid-pack at the five eighths pole to be shuffled back some positions by the half, regressed around the bend and could no factor in the drive to the finish line. LUMBERYARD tracked outside three deep watching the lead pair along the backside, was roused but retreated three to six wide getting out through the turn and had nothing left for the stretch running.
