Chart notes
CHUN MONEY sat just off the top trio in the opening quarter, moved up in hand three wide to engage rivals approaching the quarter pole, hustled along into the upper stretch, put a head in front of inside running RUNNING BAYOU near the furlong marker, got headed by game aforementioned foe just after, battled on gamely two wide under firm handling and got a head up on the wire. RUNNING BAYOU vied for the lead up the backstretch, continued to match strides around the turn, got headed by CHUN MONEY near the eighth pole, dug back in gamely, took back a slight advantage, battled on gamely and just missed. SALTHAWK was allowed to settle through early stages, picked up the pace late on the turn, swung four wide into the upper stretch, responded under left handed pressure, surged gamely three wide to the wire and just missed. MARSH CREEK came away last and steadily advanced to challenge for the early lead, held a slight edge heading into the turn then dueled between foes going by the quarter pole, could not move on with the top pair at the head of the lane and steadily weakened. JUSTIFY'S MAGIC broke on top and held a slim lead in opening stages, quickly came under pressure and vied past the half mile marker, flattened entering the turn and failed to re-gain in the lane. MR. SWEETS hustled up out of the gate, was ridden along off the early pace, came two wide the upper stretch and never threatened.
