Y VEE R away alertly and tracked the pacesetter into the first turn while racing one out from the rail, forced the issue two wide in the run down the backside, took a narrow advantage from between rivals into the final turn, held a clear lead into the lane, and held off a determined KNOPFLER late to prevail. KNOPFLER away well and stalked the leaders into the backstretch while racing just out from the rail, launched his bid three wide from between rivals into the final turn, and closed willingly two wide in the drive to prove second best while inching close late. JERSEYS IMAGE broke sharply and raced to the lead from along the rail entering the first turn, set a pressured pace from the inside of Y VEE R in the run down the backstretch, was unable to match strides with that rival through the final turn, shifted three wide into the lane, and finished well to garner a share. BIG UNION settled off the early pace while saving ground at the rail entering the backstretch, commenced his bid one out from the rail entering the final turn, steadied sharply from between rivals midway through the turn, and failed to make a serious late impact. FOREIGN PROTOCOL settled well off the early pace while racing two wide entering the backstretch, rushed up four wide midway down the backside to force the issue entering the final turn, but was outfinished late. BECKETT'S BEST unhurried early while trailing the field into the backstretch, was always well back and failed to make an impact.
