Chart notes
GILT EDGE was three deep part of the mix up top after the start, took back off the engaged duo by the five eighths pole, kept a close eye on the front pair inside another runner through the turn while going three wide, was in tight quarters trying to get a clear lane four wide in upper stretch, dug in determinedly in the five path finally having clear run by the furlong marker and edged away for the win in the late stages. SUMMER COMMANDER was nose to nose up top with an outside rival along the backside, had a narrow advantage while on the fence around the bend, dug in inside runners while up front at the top of the stretch, repelled the pesky speed foe outside by the eighth pole but had little left late and could not fend off the winner charging outside in the final seventy yards. EL COHETE travelled four deep in midfield down the backstretch, took closer order in the second flight four wide with the eventual to his inside around the bend, shifted to the five path in the thick of things at the top of the lane, was outkicked by the winner inside in deep stretch but did ran on to almost get the place share at the wire. NEXT PITCH travelled on the rail in mid-division along the backside, was shuffled back a touch on the fence at the half, closed the gap saving ground around the turn, had nowhere to go stymied behind the lead duo in the two path straightening out for home, looked in then out trying to find a seam, finally had a path darting to the inside on the rail at the sixteenth pole and finished up willingly to be a fringe player in the end. COOLER MAN battled outside for the lead in the early going, continued to hound the pacesetter going head to head outside around the bend, still was fighting up front three wide between foes turning for home, could not find another gear with a furlong remaining and wilted between foes in deep stretch. LUCKY ROMANCE settled on the rail at the back of the pack in the beginning, lagged well behind in the running around the oval, shifted out five wide for the drive to the wire and did come on late to nab a weary foe outside right at the finish line. SECRET THREAT had a stalking role near the rear down the back straight, made a sharp move midway on the turn, starting to circle around foes four wide with five sixteenths from home to loom boldly in the six path in upper stretch, could not sustain the long rally and yielded in the final furlong.
