Chart notes
HE'S LATE AGAIN took up slightly at the break in an effort to avoid contact with MAJORITY OPINION, moved up to press the pace three wide down the backstretch, responded when asked to go on from the five-sixteenths marker, took the lead before the quarter pole, then hooked into a duel with HARD LINE in upper stretch, lost the lead in mid-stretch but came back determinedly to put a nose in front at the line. HARD LINE stumbled at the start, then was allowed to settle from the break, moved up to join the leaders late on the backstretch run, bided time inside through the turn with nowhere to run, squeezed through a narrow opening in upper stretch, then engaged HE'S LATE AGAIN in a spirited duel to the finish and just missed in a game effort. GAME PORT was last away, allowed to settle well back of the pace, started to rally midway on the turn, then came five-wide into the stretch, finished up well, but was not able to get to the top pair. STAR ROCK STAR got a good break then vied three-wide while under a ride from the start, was put to a stiff drive from the three-furlong pole, battled gamely into the stretch but was not good enough in the end. MAJORITY OPINION broke out and made some contact with HE'S LATE AGAIN at the start, moved up to take the early advantage, led the group into the turn, was overtaken at the quarter pole, and weakened in the stretch. AMPITUP bobbled at the start but was still one of the first to the front, dropped over to the rail, steadied slightly before the half-mile pole, then started to lose contact with the field on the turn and chased the rest home from far back.
