Chart notes
RUN RUDOLF tracked the battling leaders through the stretch the first time while saving ground at the rail, maintained that position in the run down the backside, launched a rail bid entering the final turn, tipped two wide leaving the turn to collar the pacesetter entering the lane, quickly opened a clear lead in mid stretch, and held WHAT'S SHAKIN safely at bay late to prove best. WHAT'S SHAKIN unhurried early while trailing the field into the stretch the first time while saving ground along the inside, mounted a four wide bid from well off the pace entering the final turn, and closed steadily five out from the rail in the drive to prove clearly second best. AUGUST RAIN away well and was allowed to settle mid pack off the dueling leaders through the stretch the first time while saving ground at the rail, held his position in the run down the backstretch, rallied smartly from along the rail through the final turn, and closed from along the inside in the drive to garner a share. AT ATTENTION settled off the early pace while racing three wide into the stretch the first time, trailed the field into the second turn and in the run down the backstretch, commenced his bid four wide entering the final turn, and improved his position over the final furlong while finishing five out from the rail in the drive. BOLD ARCH broke sharply and raced to the lead from along the rail entering the stretch the first time, set a pressured pace through the second turn and into the backside, disposed of his pace rival to open a clear advantage in the run to the final turn, maintained a shrinking lead through the turn, was overtaken soon after entering the lane, and was outfinished in the drive. SPACE away alertly and pressed the pace from the outside of BOLD ARCH through the stretch the first time, was unable to keep pace with that rival while chasing him down the backside, rallied two wide through the final turn, drifted in while tiring leaving the turn, and faded in the stretch drive. DIOCLES settled mid pack through the stretch the first time while racing one out from the rail, maintained his position in the run down the backside, rallied smartly two wide through the final turn, took up sharply when losing his path leaving the turn, and was unable to regain his momentum thereafter. Following the running of this race there were two jockey claims of foul. The rider of SPACE lodged a claim of foul against the rider of RUN RUDOLF, and the rider of DIOCLES lodged a claim of foul against the rider of WHAT'S SHAKIN, both for alleged interference leaving the final turn. After review, both claims of foul were dismissed, and no change was made to the original order of finish.
