COLONEL YORKE settled mid-pack while saving ground throughout, squeezed through a tight spot just before the chute and surged clear in the final yards. GO GO BOSS took a light bump just after the start, got over to the two-path going into the first turn, tracked mid-pack a few lengths off the pace, bided time in cover down the backstretch, was able to get free in mid-stretch, and surged late but came up short to the winner. GOLD FRONT sent to the front from the break, pressed the moderate pace to the outside of TEXAS CREED to the far turn, let that rival get first run into the stretch, came back to overtake that rival late, but got outkicked by the top pair in the last jumps. TEXAS CREED broke well, led the way into the stretch under mild pressure, kicked on well turning for home with a clear lead, battled gamely to deep stretch, but came up short in the end in a solid effort. DOWN THE ISLANDS settled three-wide in mid-pack early, advanced closer down the backstretch, loomed three-wide at the top of the stretch, finished up well, but could not find the winning kick. TREVAGGIO broke outward at the start and made light contact with GO GO BOSS, raced at the back of the main group, stayed to the inside and was lacking for racing room late on the backstretch, finished with some interest, came off the rail in deep stretch, but could not find the needed response. CROCKETT was reluctant to load, then broke well, tracked close up along the rail, was finishing well when forced to take up in traffic in deep stretch and lost all chance. MAVERAMA raced mid-pack three to four wide and lacked a finish. CHEROKEE SUNRISE was not asked for any speed from the start, settled along the rail near the back of the pack, lost contact with the field down the backstretch then came back on a bit in the stretch to pass a couple of tired foes. QUARTERLY REPORT came away from the gate a bit awkwardly, raced three-wide near the back, launched a bid from the middle of the far turn, came six or seven wide into the stretch but was unable to threaten. FLAMINGPROPOSITION was close up three wide to the far turn, backed up steadily through the field on the far turn, and was uninvolved in the late stages. THERE WAS A STEWARDS INQUIRY INTO THE STRETCH RUN, AFTER A LENGTHY REVIEW, THE DECISION WAS MADE THAT THERE WAS INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE TO WARRANT A DIQUALIFICATION, AND THE ORIGINAL ORDER OF FINISH WAS MADE OFFICIAL.
