Chart notes
THUNDERING DESIRE got away well, floated a bit wide through the clubhouse turn, settled in a stalking position behind the leader down the backstretch, rolled right past that one near the quarter pole, then finished up well under intermittent urging, holding a rival at bay to the wire. BACK STREET BABY tracked from well behind the pace through the early stages, moved up down the backstretch run, made a good middle move on the far turn to gain contention, chased the winner gamely to the finish, but could not get past. CLASSIC EMBRACE tracked four wide in the middle of the tracking pack, was kept to task down the stretch and was just up to gain the third prize. BROADWAY STAR unhurried from the start, settled near the rear of the field, then advanced steadily down the backstretch, then responded with some late interest when set down in the stretch. GRAND EMPRESS vied three-wide through the first turn, then settled a couple of lengths back, moved up approaching the quarter pole, loomed in upper stretch but finished evenly, lacking a late kick. SASSI SKY lagged at the rear early, started a sustained rally from the seven-sixteenths marker, tipped out to the four-path at the head of the stretch, altered course to the inside in mid-stretch, but was unable to improve much. SHOW RESPECT settled inside in the middle of the pack, finished with some good energy, but had trouble changing leads and flattened out late. STAR OF ASTROLOGY made the early running with THUNDERING DESIRE a constant shadow to the outside, gave way near the quarter pole and tired in the stretch.
