Chart notes
SHRINER broke well, showed good speed to grab the lead early, got some pressure from VINDICATED TIGER early on but was always traveling well in-hand, drew away when roused in the stretch, and widened the margin in the final furlong. VINDICATED TIGER raced just off the flank of SHRINER through the early stages, started to struggle to keep up with that rival midway on the turn, was no match in the stretch, but finished up well clear of the next horse. BENITO brushed with LYLA'S LUCKY BOY at the start, was slow early to be well off the leaders at the rear of the field, commenced a steady, long drive on the turn, and finished with a late gain along the inside to gain the show. HOWARD'S GRIT broke well, chased pace from mid-pack, got an inside run through the turn, but was unable to summon a rally. WEGOTJACKSBACK was allowed to settle after the break, raced near the rear of the field, made a mild advance through the turn, but flattened out in the stretch. DOOQ threw the head up at the start, broke last then rushed up into contention to be in third position by the five-eighths pole, was under a drive from the three-furlong pole but weakened late on the turn and was not a factor in the stretch run. HECTOR B raced briefly between horses in the tracking group but dropped out early and had nothing to offer late. LYLA'S LUCKY BOY brushed with BENITO at the break, then rushed up after a tardy start to be in third position but still well back of the dueling pair, then could not sustain the bid into the stretch and tired.
